Background

There are four gas fuel steam boilers in a beverage production plant. Boiler feed water is not treated as the steam produced is directly used in beverage production. Boiler tubes were seriously fouled by mineral scale in the past.

After knowing the descaling performance of HydroFLOW from friends, it was decided to adopt HydroFLOW for cost saving. The boiler tubes were inspected before the installation of HydroFLOW and shown in picture 1. Because of the huge energy loss due to the thick mineral scale, acid wash was applied first. It was agreed to inspect the boiler tubes six months later to see the effect.

Result

After six months of operation, it was found that the deposit on boiler tubes was minimal as shown in picture 2 and it was agreed by the contractor for boiler maintenance.

The gas consumption is reduced by 15.0% after one year of study by internal environment officer of the customer. The investment is paid back in 3 months.
